Then I Shall See

Then I Shall See is a substantial brass band work written for David R Purkiss, built around a new original melody inspired by the devotional words “Sweet is Thy rest, my God, my King.” This fresh melodic idea is woven together with the traditional hymn tune Deep Harmony and its associated text, creating a piece that feels both familiar and newly illuminated.

Fragments of the original melody surface throughout the work, drawing the listener deeper into its reflective world, before an abridged verse of Deep Harmony brings the piece to a powerful and moving conclusion.
